Dr. Roosevelt Allen, Jr.
Dr. Roosevelt Allen, Jr. is a native of Elberton, Georgia. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Clark Atlanta University (formerly Clark College), graduating Magna Cum Laude. He subsequently received his Doctorate of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1987, graduating salutatorian of his medical school class.
After graduating from college, Dr. Allen attended the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Allen was elected into the medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha in his junior year. He received the highest award bestowed to a medical school graduate, The Upjohn Achievement Physician Award. He was also honored by the governor of Georgia as a recipient of the Academic Achievement Award as the scholar representative from Medical College of Georgia.
Dr. Allen went on to complete his internship and residency training in Urology at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Allen was the first African American admitted into the Urology Internship program.
Immediately following the completion of his medical training, Dr. Allen and his family moved back to the metro Atlanta area to pursue the American dream. However, God had a spiritual vision which overshadowed any earthly dream he purposed to pursue. In 1992, Dr. Allen’s spiritual relationship with God began to blossom and the vision of God for his life became his focus. He accepted the call from God to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ and after appropriate training was licensed as a minister. He was subsequently ordained as an Elder in the Church of God in Christ by Bishop Chandler D. Owens. In 1998, Dr. Allen, along with his wife, founded Holy Bethel Church of God in Christ in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Holy Bethel is a church “where everybody is somebody and Jesus Reigns Supreme!” Dr. Allen continues to serve as the Pastor of Holy Bethel, a thriving and growing ministry.
Dr. Allen has remained bi-vocational. He is currently a full partner with Georgia Urology where he is engaged in Clinical practice and research activities. Georgia Urology is the second largest urology practice in the United States. Dr. Allen is a diplomat of the American Urological Association. He has served on numerous boards of various Metro Atlanta Hospitals. Dr. Allen has recognized by Atlanta Magazine for six consecutive years as one of the top one hundred physicians in the Metropolitan Atlanta area. He was also listed in Accent Magazine, September 2006, 2007 issues as one of top physicians in Gwinnett County and in Georgia. Dr. Allen received the Elbert County Heritage Award which honors citizens who have made great accomplishments in their careers and have been outstanding community leaders in society.
Pastor Allen has been married for 28 blessed years to the love of his life, Rozetta Tanner Allen, originally from Atlanta, Georgia. They are the proud parents of six children: Brandon (26); twins Jasmine, and Justin (23); Andrew (21); Jordan (18); and Nicholas (15).
Seeking no praise for himself, Pastor Allen’s goal is to be a vessel in the hands of God. It is his desire to be used by God to lift up the name of Jesus in these last and evil days. He means holiness all the way!
